They're searching.
Just not for you.
Coaching is the category where search intent is most easily misread. For every person looking to hire a coach there are several looking to become one, and Google cannot tell them apart unless you make it. Get the negatives right and search becomes the highest-intent channel you have. Get them wrong and you fund a training audience indefinitely.
Who's actually
typing it?
"Business coach" is typed by someone hiring one, someone becoming one, and someone writing a dissertation about them. Until an account can tell those apart, every other optimization is decoration. Find the queries that mean money - that's the playbook we build.
The queries that mean hiring
Niche, outcome and "near me" modifiers where someone is looking to engage rather than to learn. Small volume, high value - and the terms most accounts overlook because a keyword tool ranked them beneath the broad head term.
Separating buyers from students
Certification, training, salary, course, "how to become" and jobs traffic stripped out relentlessly. In coaching this is not housekeeping - it is the single largest determinant of whether the account works, because the aspiring-practitioner audience is enormous and clicks freely.
Optimized to held, not clicked
Application forms with qualifying questions, calendar wired as a tracked conversion, and where your CRM allows it, held calls fed back as the optimization event. Your diary is the constrained resource, so we protect it in the bidding rather than after the fact.
A sale weeks after the click
Offline conversion import so a program sold six weeks later still teaches Google which search started it. With few conversions and high values, this loop matters more here than in almost any other category.
Your ads aren't broken.
Your keyword list is.
Every coach we talk to says a version of the same thing: "we got clicks and enquiries, but nobody wanted to hire us." In this category that is almost always a keyword problem rather than a copy problem. Here's what's happening - and what a properly built coaching account does instead.
What's draining your budget
- Bidding on "life coach" and "business coach" broad, against an audience mostly wanting to become one
- No negatives for certification, training, course, salary, jobs or "how to become"
- Competitor coaches, coach directories and coaching schools all clicking your ads
- Optimized to form fills, so the cheapest enquiries win and none of them can pay
- One campaign covering a $200 session and a $12,000 programme at the same bid
- Landing on a homepage that describes your philosophy rather than the outcome searched for
- A high-ticket sale weeks later that Google never learns about
- Cost per lead reported monthly, cost per enrolment never calculated at all
What we install instead
- Keywords built around hiring intent - outcome, niche and engagement modifiers
- Aggressive negative lists for training, certification, careers and academic traffic
- Search terms reviewed weekly, because this category generates new junk continuously
- Campaigns split by offer value, so a discovery call and a programme aren't bid alike
- Applications with qualifying questions, optimized toward calls that were held
- Landing pages that answer the specific search, not your origin story
- Offline conversion import, so bidding learns from enrolments rather than enquiries
- Break-even cost per enrolment modelled from your programme price and close rate
The founders we work with.
Here's what founders say after working with us - unfiltered.
NCMborz rebuilt our site, then unleashed focused Meta and Google ads that filled coaching calendars fast. Branding, traffic, engagement, revenue - every dot now connects and we speak to ideal students. They made bold decisions feel easy with calm, data-backed reasoning.
Our old site was clunky and our ads were bleeding cash. Their team stepped in, rebuilt everything, and suddenly shoppers could buy without any fuss. They explain the numbers in plain language and always lay out the next move. First agency that's truly felt like part of our crew.
They built our Shopify store from sketch to polish, and the ads keep bringing in people who actually appreciate the product. Fast, thoughtful, no guessing games. For a brand that sweats the small stuff, having a partner who gets that is a big deal.
Six systems.
One qualified calendar.
This is the exact build order for every coaching and consulting account we take on - whether you sell a $97 course or a $15,000 engagement. Skip any one of these and the rest stops working.
Pricing, scoped to you.

NCMborz vs. the alternatives
You've got options. Here's how we stack up against what most coaches try first.
Here's exactly what you get.
No mystery, no "we'll get back to you." Every stage below ends with something delivered to your inbox - though a high-ticket sales cycle means the final numbers take longer than the first leads.
Strategy call & access
A 30-minute call to map your offer, your price point, your close rate and who you actually want to reach. Google Ads and CRM access requested within 24 hours.
Audit & intent mapping
Full account audit, plus the buyer-versus-student query analysis that drives the keyword and negative lists. Break-even cost per enrolment calculated from your real close rate.
Rebuild & launch
Campaigns rebuilt with intent-mapped keywords and negatives live from day one, applications qualified, offline conversion import wired up. Daily monitoring and weekly search-term review.
Optimize & scale
By week three you'll have real cost-per-held-call data and a first read on enrolment cost. If your sales cycle runs longer than a month, we'll say so rather than present an incomplete number as settled.
We get asked these every week.
We get clicks but nobody wants to hire us. What's wrong?
Almost always that you are paying for the wrong intent. Coaching is unusual in that the aspiring-practitioner audience - people wanting to become a coach - is far larger and far more click-happy than the buying audience, and they search the same words. Without heavy negatives for training, certification, courses, salary and "how to become", a meaningful share of budget goes to people who will never hire anyone. Fixing that is the single biggest lever in this category.
Is Google Ads or Meta better for coaching?
They do different jobs and most established coaches end up running both. Google captures the smaller group actively looking to hire someone right now - high intent, low volume, and it converts well when the negatives are right. Meta reaches the much larger group who have the problem but have not thought of hiring a coach. If you need enquiries this month, start with Google. If you need to build demand, that is Meta's job.
Should we bid on other coaches' names?
Occasionally, and carefully. It is expensive, your quality score on their brand will be poor, and in a relationship-driven category it can look worse than it performs. Where you have a genuinely different methodology or serve a niche they do not, it can work. Where the ad just implies you are better, it burns money and reputation together.
Our programme is $10,000. Is search volume even there?
Usually yes, but it is thin, and that is the real constraint rather than cost per click. High-ticket coaching means few conversions, which means Google has little to learn from. We often optimize toward held calls instead of enrolments for that reason, and we will tell you honestly on the call if the search volume in your niche cannot sustain a campaign.
How do you track a sale that closes six weeks after the click?
Offline conversion import. Held calls and enrolments flow from your CRM back into Google with values attached, so bidding can learn from outcomes rather than from the form fill it sees immediately. We also set attribution windows to your real cycle rather than the platform default, which is usually far too short for high-ticket coaching.
Should we advertise on our own name?
Often worth it, especially if competitors or coaching directories bid on it, but it should sit in its own campaign with its own reporting. Branded traffic converts beautifully because those people already decided to look you up - blending it into your main campaign produces a flattering average that hides whether your actual acquisition is working.
How much ad spend do we need?
Less than in most B2B categories because the qualified search volume is genuinely small - the constraint is availability of good queries rather than budget. We will give you a realistic floor for your niche on the call, and if the volume cannot support a campaign at all we will say that instead of taking a retainer to spend it slowly.
Do you build the landing pages?
We build the conversion path the ads need - pages that answer the specific search, applications that qualify, and calendar wiring. Sending paid traffic to a homepage that opens with your coaching philosophy is one of the most expensive habits in this category, because the visitor has to re-find what they already told Google they wanted.
What about local searches - "executive coach in Manchester"?
Worth targeting where you work in person or where proximity signals trust, and worth ignoring where you deliver entirely online. We set location targeting to physical presence rather than interest, which prevents the very common problem of paying for people researching your city from another country.
Can you help if we also sell a low-ticket course?
Yes, and it should be a separate campaign with separate economics. A $97 course and a $10,000 programme have different break-even points, different close rates and different optimization events. Running them together produces an average that is wrong for both.
How quickly will we see booked calls?
Usually within two to four weeks of restructure, because search intent is immediate. A reliable cost per held call takes around 45 days. Cost per enrolment takes one full sales cycle, and we will not quote a number before we have one.
What if we're not the right fit?
We will tell you on the call. We turn coaching work down fairly often - usually because the niche has almost no hiring-intent search volume, or because the offer has not yet sold organically. Paid search amplifies an offer that already converts; it does not prove one that has not.
What happens on the strategy call?
30 minutes. We look at your account, your offer and where your spend is actually going, find the biggest leak, and tell you exactly what we would do in your first 90 days. If we are a fit, we talk pricing. If not, no hard feelings - no follow-up sequence, no pressure.
Let's build your playbook.
30 minutes. We'll look at your account, your offer, and how much of your spend is reaching people who want to become a coach rather than hire one - then tell you exactly what we'd do in the first 90 days. Pick a time.
