Most clinics that hire an agency have the same complaint. The ads run, the phone rings some weeks, and nobody can say which spend produced which patient. In healthcare there's a second problem underneath: the usual fix, a tracking pixel on every page and form, is often the one thing a clinic shouldn't do. As a digital marketing agency for healthcare businesses, we run search ads, Facebook ads, SEO and websites for clinics and private health services in the US and UK, with measurement built to count booked appointments without handing anyone's health details to an ad platform.

The short version
  • For clinics, multi-service practices, diagnostics, physiotherapy, therapy and private health services in the US and UK.
  • Google search ads for people looking for a test, scan or treatment. Facebook and Instagram ads for services people plan ahead.
  • Tracking that reports bookings by service and location, kept away from portals, intake forms and anything that records a condition.
  • Ads or SEO management runs $500-$2,000 a month, month-to-month. Builds run $1,200-$15,000, fixed price.

Why healthcare marketing stalls

What you see, and what's usually behind it
  • Ads Manager shows clicks and no bookings. Meta may have placed your site in its health and wellness category and stopped accepting booking events, or bookings happen in a system the ads never hear from.
  • Google won't show ads to past visitors. Health is a sensitive category for Google, so remarketing lists don't work for most clinical services.
  • Plenty of inquiries, a thin appointment book. Replies take hours, and follow-up stops after one missed call.
  • A previous agency put a pixel on everything. Tags on booking forms or a portal can send protected health information to an ad platform, a compliance problem before it's a marketing one.

The rules that shape healthcare advertising

Health is one of the few areas where the platforms and regulators change what an agency may build. Here is what applies as of this update. It isn't legal advice: your compliance lead or lawyer has the final word, and our job is to make their sign-off easy.

The rules, platform by platform

In practice, the event a campaign optimized for can quietly stop arriving, and the standard tracking setup for local businesses isn't safe for a clinic. Everything below is built around that.

What we do for healthcare businesses

Pick by the problem

How a privacy-aware healthcare funnel fits together

1

Map where health information lives

Before a tag goes on, we list every page and form. Anything that records symptoms, conditions, medications or insurance details is off-limits for ad and analytics tags.

2

One neutral conversion

The ad platforms hear that an appointment was booked, with a value if you want one, and nothing about what for. If Meta has restricted your site, we confirm the event in Events Manager before launch.

3

Send events from your server

Meta's Conversions API or Google's server-side tagging lets you decide exactly which fields leave your systems. Our Conversions API guide covers the setup.

4

Let the booking system keep the record

Your practice software holds the patient record; the ads only need a confirmation. Tracking bookings in another system compares the routes.

5

Answer inquiries in minutes

A reply within minutes and a call the same hour. The form asks for a name, contact details and a preferred time, never symptoms.

6

Report on booked appointments

Weekly cost per booked appointment by service and location, checked against your own appointment book.

Proof, labeled honestly

We don't have a published healthcare case study. The closest published work is with appointment-led local businesses whose problem was the one most clinics have: the ad platform couldn't see the bookings.

From our case studies (not healthcare clients)
  • A climbing gym's Facebook ads account: cost per booking went from £28.82 on a link click objective to £5.13 once purchase tracking and a sales objective were in place, on essentially the same budget.
  • Over ten months, the same account returned 2.95x its ad spend.
  • A coach's checkout we built sends paid orders to Meta from the server, 100% of them since August, matched against the browser Pixel.

Health adds rules those accounts never faced. What carries over is the order of work: what the platform can see, then the objective, then the creative. See the climbing gym case study and the funnel build.

Who we're not for

Not the right fit
  • Clinics that want to advertise prescription-only medicines to the UK public, or unproven treatments anywhere.
  • Practices that need an agency to hold patient records. We set tracking up so those stay in your systems.
  • Anyone measuring success in followers or reach, or without a real ad budget alongside the fee.

Guides for clinics

Questions clinics ask a healthcare marketing agency

What does a digital marketing agency for healthcare do?

It brings in patients for the services you want to grow, and proves which spend produced them: search ads, Facebook ads, local search and reviews, with tracking that counts bookings without sending health information to the ad platforms.

What should a health care digital marketing agency do differently from a general one?

Design tracking around where health information lives, know the platform rules on health data and remarketing, and write copy your regulator would accept, with claims you can back up.

Can a clinic use the Meta Pixel or Google Analytics?

On public pages, with care, and never on patient portals, intake forms or pages that record a condition. Google offers no business associate agreement for Google Analytics, and Meta may restrict data from health websites.

Why did our booking conversions stop showing in Ads Manager?

Check the data source category in Events Manager. If Meta has classed your site as health and wellness, it may block lower-funnel events, and custom events stay blocked until you review them. You can request a review there.

Can a clinic retarget website visitors with Google Ads?

Usually not. Health is a sensitive interest category, so remarketing lists and Customer Match are unavailable. Keywords, location and Google's predefined audiences still work.

Is the HHS online tracking guidance still in force?

Partly. In June 2024 a Texas federal court vacated the part about an IP address plus a visit to a public page, and HHS withdrew its appeal. Guidance on pages behind a login wasn't struck down. This isn't legal advice.

How much does healthcare marketing cost?

Ads or SEO management runs $500-$2,000 a month, month-to-month, plus ad spend paid to Google or Meta. Websites are fixed-price, from $1,200.

Have you worked with healthcare clients?

We have no published healthcare case study and won't imply one. Our published work is with appointment-led local businesses, labeled as such here.
