Accounting firms rarely struggle to find work in the spring. They struggle to find the right work: the niche they're best at, the advisory clients who pay well all year, the businesses that need monthly bookkeeping rather than a once-a-year return. And the marketing that would bring those clients is always the first thing dropped when deadlines arrive. As a marketing agency for accountants, we build the system that keeps working through the busy months and aim it at the clients you want.
- For CPA firms, accountancy practices and bookkeepers in the US and UK.
- Search, content and a strong local profile for the services and niches you choose.
- Fees published where you're willing, because they bring better-fit enquiries.
- Ads, SEO, content or email management runs $500-$2,000 a month, month-to-month. Websites run $1,200-$15,000, fixed price.
The rules on advertising
| Body | What it says | What it means for your marketing |
|---|---|---|
| AICPA (US) | No advertising that's false, misleading or deceptive, including claims creating unjustified expectations of favorable results | No promised refunds or savings; describe what you do and who for |
| Circular 230 (US tax practice) | Fees may be published as fixed fees, hourly rates, ranges or a consultation fee, and honored for at least 30 days | Publish starting prices, and update them deliberately |
| ICAEW (UK) | No exaggerated claims about services, qualifications or experience | Plain, provable descriptions |
| ACCA (UK) | Members may advertise as they see fit, provided nothing is misleading | Same test: can you prove it? |

On Google, there's one more check. In the UK, advertisers need Google's financial services verification to show financial services ads of any kind, whether the service is regulated or not. Google's definition is about managing or investing money, including personalized advice; plain accounting and tax preparation aren't named, so we check your service list against it before launching. Google has announced verification is coming to the US and Canada in early 2027.
Market in the quiet months
For individual tax clients in the US, the busy season runs up to the April 15 filing deadline, when most firms can't take on anyone new. That makes the rest of the year the time to win next year's clients: content that answers the questions people ask before they choose an accountant, pages for each service and niche, reviews gathered after each engagement, and follow-up with everyone who enquired when you were too busy to take them on.
- One page for every service. Tax, bookkeeping, payroll and advisory on one page, so none of them ranks.
- No prices anywhere. People who'd pay your rates can't tell, and people who wouldn't book calls anyway.
- No niche. Firms that serve dentists, contractors or ecommerce brands well rarely say so.
- Enquiries in March, silence by May. Nobody follows up the people turned away in busy season.
Choose the clients, then the channels
Before any ads or pages, decide which clients you want more of. A firm that wants local individual returns needs a strong profile, reviews and search ads near the office. A firm that wants monthly bookkeeping for small businesses needs pages and content for that service, and possibly for the industries it knows best. A firm selling fractional finance work to growing companies may find business owners and finance leaders through search and LinkedIn. Each needs its own page with a clear next step.
What we do for accountants
- SEO. You want enquiries for the services and niches you choose, not whoever finds you.
- Content marketing. Clients ask the same questions every year, and your site doesn't answer any of them.
- Local SEO. People search for an accountant near them, and the map results decide who they call.
- Google Ads for local businesses. You need new clients before the busy season, not after it.
- LinkedIn ads. You sell advisory or fractional finance work to business owners and finance leaders.
- Email marketing. Past enquiries and existing clients never hear about your other services.
- Reviews and reputation. Clients trust you, but your profile has few reviews.

Questions accountants ask a marketing agency
What does a marketing agency for accountants do?
It brings in the clients a firm wants more of, such as a niche, an advisory service or year-round bookkeeping, and shows which channels produced them. Usually that's search and content for the services you want to grow, a strong local profile and reviews, and follow-up that turns enquiries into consultations.
Can accountants advertise their fees?
Yes. In the US, Circular 230 lets tax practitioners publish fixed fees, hourly rates, fee ranges and the fee for a first consultation, but they must charge no more than the published rates for at least 30 days after publishing them. Many firms find a starting price on each service page brings better-fit enquiries.
What claims can't accountants make?
The AICPA Code bars advertising that's false, misleading or deceptive, including claims that create unjustified expectations of favorable results. In the UK, ICAEW members can't make exaggerated claims about services, qualifications or experience, and ACCA members can advertise freely as long as nothing is misleading.
Do accountants need Google's financial services verification?
In the UK, Google requires it for financial services ads of any kind. Google's definition covers managing or investing money, including personalized advice, and doesn't name plain accounting or tax preparation, so we check your services against it before launching. Google plans to bring verification to the US and Canada in early 2027.
When should accountants market?
Before the busy season, not during it. Most firms can't take on new clients in the weeks before the April 15 deadline, so the work that brings next year's clients happens in the quieter months.
Do LinkedIn ads work for accounting firms?
For firms selling to businesses, such as fractional finance or advisory work, they can reach owners and finance leaders by job title and company size. For individual tax clients, search and local profiles usually do better.
Have you worked with accounting firms?
We have no published accounting case study and won't claim one. The approach on this page is what you'd get.
How much does marketing for accountants cost with you?
Ads, SEO, content or email management runs $500-$2,000 a month, month-to-month, plus any ad spend. Websites are fixed-price, from $1,200.
